This recipe shows the basics, but sometimes I like to add in some corn and cilantro just to give it a little extra flavor and color.

Ingredients

  • ~5 tbsp of oil
  • 2 cups of rice
  • 4 cups of water
  • Half white onion (diced)
  • Half a tomato (diced)
  • 1 small can of tomato sauce
  • 1-2 cubes of chicken bouillon
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat pan with oil, then add the rice, onion, garlic powder, and pepper.
  2. Stir until the rice until rice is light brown (not burnt). Keep stirring to not burn the onion.
  3. Add tomato, water, tomato sauce, and chicken bouillon.
  4. Lower temp to med-low.
  5. Let it boil and then cover for about 20 mins or until desired consistency of rice.
